We the Women

We the Women is a book-and-exhibit-in-one about the history and current state of women in politics. The book, which can be unbound and hung as an exhibition in public buildings, was created for pre-teen to teenage girls, encouraging them to become politically active.

It begins with the history of women’s suffrage around the world and continues to 2016.

It highlights women who advanced the fight for political equality. Women like Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American Muslim legislator.

Interactive features, like archival video, audio clips and hidden messages can be accessed with virtual reality and special glasses.

The image to the right demonstrates scanning an image of Shirley Chisholm, which pulls up a video of her announcing her presidential candidacy in 1972.
